At the invitation of the Association of Environmental and Environmental Tourism Journalists, the Institute of Zoology participated in the Environment Day Festival, organized on 10 June in the Valea Morilor park.

According to the organizers' concept, the Environment Day Festival is a day when the environmental community boasts of its activities/successes and informs the public on environmental topics in a comfortable and friendly environment.

Between May 14-17, 2023, young researchers Petru Ciorba, Laboratory of Hydrobiology and Ecotoxicology and Sorina Istrati, PhD student, Laboratory of Systematics and Molecular Phylogeny, participated in the GeoEcoMar Summer School, organized by the Institute of Marine Geology and Geoecology (GeoEcoMar) from Romania, with headquarters in Bucharest and a branch in Constanța. The main objective of the meeting was to highlight environmental and biotic changes in aquatic ecosystems.

Recently, journalists of the TVR Moldova television channel visited the museums of the Institute of Zoology in the context of broadcasting a series of reportages dedicated to museums of our country.

On 17 May 2023, the Institute of Zoology took part in an event dedicated to the celebration of the Europe Day, namely the University European City, organized by the Moldova State University under the topic "European Union - Republic of Moldova: stronger together!".

Along the other research institutes and faculties of the MSU, the Institute of Zoology presented the main results obtained within the projects carried out in recent years and funded by the European Union:

The Institute of Zoology, Moldova State University, participated in the 15th edition of the European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation EUROINVENT, which was held on 11-13 May 2023 in Iasi, Romania.

The monograph "Saproxylic coleopterans from the Republic of Moldova", author Dr. Assoc.Prof. Svetlana Bacal,  presents the results of taxonomic, faunistic and ecological research on saproxylic coleoptera species collected by the author in 2008-2022 and those stored in the collections of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, the Entomology Museum of the Institute of Zoology, the Museum of the State University of Moldova and the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection.

The monograph ”Entomopathogenic fungi” of authors Anna Moldovan, Natalia Munteanu-Molotievskiy, Ion Toderaș presents the micromycetes with an essential role in regulating the number of insects harmful to crops. The work includes a general characteristic of the entomopathogenic fungi, data on classification, phylogenetic relationships, biology, ecology and methods of research.

Nineteen corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) were elected at the General Assembly of ASM on 10 March 2023 and among them is professor Laurentia Ungureanu, doctor habilitate in biological sciences, director of the Institute of Zoology.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science has been celebrated since 2016 on 11 February, with the aim to promote the employment of women and girls in the sciences, to encourage the career development and participation in the decision-making processes in science, to recognize the achievements of women in science.

The book "Noctuids (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) from the Republic of Moldova", author - Țugulea Cristina, includes the results of the faunal and ecological research of the butterflies of the Noctuidae family from the natural and anthropogenic ecosystems of the Republic of Moldova, carried out during the years 2012-2022.

The faunal spectrum of noctuidae (Noctuidae) from the Republic of Moldova, which consists of 428 species, taxonomically classified into 169 genera and 17 subfamilies, was established for the first time.
