On 19 October 2023, at the West University of Timisoara, Romania, the award ceremony of the Danubius Awards 2023 took place. In this way the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, in cooperation with the Institute for Danube Region and Central Europe, honour achievements in science and research in and for the Danube region.

The Joint ESENIAS (East and South European Network for Invasive Alien Species) and DIAS (Danube Region Invasive Alien Species Network) Conference 2023 and the 12th ESENIAS workshop ”Globalisation and invasive alien species in the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions – management challenges and regional cooperation” took place on 11-14 October 2023 in Varna, Bulgaria. 

The European Research Night – an initiative of the European Union – is an event organized annually at the end of September, which aims to promote research&innovation activity and bring it closer to the general public.

In the period of September 19-21, 2023, the 2nd edition of the International Exhibition of Innovation and Technological Transfer EXCELLENT IDEA - 2023 was held. The event was organized by: the Center for Innovation and Technological Transfer, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, Academy of Sciences of Moldova, State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu" from the Republic of Moldova.

A group of researchers from the Institute of Zoology participated on 7-9 September 2023 in the international scientific conference "The museum and scientific research", the 30th edition, organized by the Natural Sciences Department of the Museum of Oltenia Craiova,  in collaboration with the Dolj County Council.

The Laboratory of Entomology of the Institute of Zoology, in partnership with Natura magazine, carried out between February - May 2023 the competition Woodboring beetle - pests of icons. During this period, scientific articles were published on the website of magazine about the xylophagous beetles that can be found in old wooden icons in the churches and homes of Orthodox believers.

The Moldovan office of the World Federation of Scientists (WFS) recently announced the winners of the excellence scholarship for the year 2023-2024. 

The 9th edition of the "Traian Vuia” International Exhibition of Inventions and Innovations from Timisoara, Romania, took place between 15 and 17 June 2023. The event was organized by the "King Mihai I" University of Life Sciences from Timisoara (former "King Mihai I of Romania" Banat University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine), in partnership with the Society of Inventors from Banat.
