Between September 15-17, the International Scientific Conference "Museum and scientific research", XXIXth edition, was held, being organized by the Natural Sciences section of the Oltenia Museum, Craiova, Romania. The researchers of the Institute of Zoology presented 5 works in the form of oral and poster communications. 

Lots complaints of Chisinau inhabitants regarding the appearance of small stinging insects were registered in the last few days. These turned out to be two species of invasive bugs - the platanus lace bug (Corythucha ciliata) and the oak lace bug (Corythucha arcuata). Both species are very similar to each other – they have a few millimetres in size, white colour with black-grey spots. C. ciliata finds shelter on the Platanus sp. tree, but C.

Today, 19 August 2022, the implementation period of the project 2SOFT/1.2/47 Team up for healthy fish in aquaculture systems of the Prut river basin – TeamUp HealthyFish, funded by the European Union within the Joint Operational Program Romania-Republic of Moldova 2014-2020, has ended. The project has been carried out by the Institute of Zoology in partnership with the Ion Ionescu de la Brad University of Life Sciences from Iași during 21 months, starting in November 2020, and has had a total budget of around 198 thousand euro. 

The brochure „Ladybugs (Insecta: Coccinelidae) from the Republic of Moldova”, authors – Bușmachiu Galina, Bacal Svetlana, Burduja Daniela, Calestru Livia and Belova Victoria, includes the study of the diversity of ladybug species in the country – the best-known group of coleopterous insects, preferred and loved by children.

The work „Methodological guide for fish farmers” is a contribution to the knowledge in the field of aquaculture, aiming at, particularly, ensuring the health of fish raised in ponds in the Prut River basin through sustainable practices of pond management.

The guide was developed within the cross-border project 2 SOFT 1.2./47 „Team up for healthy fish in aquaculture systems of the Prut river basin” - TeamUp HealthyFish and recommended for editing by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Zoology.

The project 2 SOFT/1.2/47 ”Team up for healthy fish in aquaculture systems of the Prut river basin” – TeamUp HealthyFish – was presented, among others, in the section ”On-going projects – information from the program area” of the Newsletter no. 2/2022 of the Joint Operational Program Romania-Republic of Moldova 2014-2020.

The Ion Ionescu de la Brad University of Life Sciences from Iași (IULS), in partnership with the Institute of Zoology, organized a knowledge transfer training within the project 2SOFT/1.2/47 Team up for healthy fish in aquaculture systems of the Prut river basin – TeamUp HealthyFish on 19 May 2022.

The Institute of Zoology joined on Saturday, 4 June 2022, the ecological community of the Republic of Moldova to mark the World Environment Day. The event was organized in Valea Morilor Park in Chisinau by the Association of Environmental Journalists, with the generous support of international funding organizations.

On 18 May 2022, researchers of the Institute of Zoology held a press conference dedicated to the completion of the project 2 SOFT/1.2/47 Team up for healthy fish in aquaculture systems of the Prut river basin - TeamUp HealthyFish (Joint Operational Program Romania-Republic of Moldova 2014-2020, funded by the European Union). EcoFM radio channel hosted the conference and broadcasted it on its Facebook page.

Between May 14-15, 2022, in the village of Văleni, Cahul district, the ninth edition of the National Ethno-Folk Festival “Sweet Acacia Flower” took place.
