On May 4 and 5, 2026, the Institute of Zoology, Laboratory of Systematics and Molecular Phylogeny organized a series of six lectures for students of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu", carried out in the framework of promoting interdisciplinary research and strengthening the scientific skills of young researchers.
The current topics in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, toxicology, and mathematical modeling used in research were examined:
- mathematical modeling of the toxicity testing processes of synthetic substances – Nadejda Railean, scientific researcher;
- correlating mathematical modeling with interdisciplinary research – Nadejda Railean, scientific researcher;
- biological properties of bioactive substances – Olga Garbuz, PhD, head of laboratory;
- testing the antioxidant, antiproliferative activity, and selectivity of synthetic substances – Olga Garbuz, PhD, head of laboratory;
- testing the toxicity of synthetic substances – Alexandr Morozov, PhD, leading scientific researcher;
- molecular biology and molecular phylogeny in the modern world: from diagnostics to understanding evolution – Alexandr Morozov, PhD, leading scientific researcher.
Modern approaches used in the study of biological and molecular processes were emphasized, as well the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications in the life sciences. The role of interdisciplinary research in the development of biology was also noted.
