Entomologists of the Institute of Zoology participated in the XXIst edition of the PESD International Conference, Iasi, Romania

Researchers of the Laboratory of Entomology of the Institute of Zoology, MSU, Dr. Hab. Associate Professor Galina Bușmachiu and Dr. Hab. Associated Professor Svetlana Bacal participated on June 12-14, 2026 at the International Conference "Present Environment and Sustainable Development", organized by the Faculty of Geography and Geology, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Romania. Within the section "Biodiversity Loss and Conservation Strategies. Soil Monitoring", two scientific papers dedicated to the species of Coleoptera and Odonata collected from the Plaiul Fagului Nature Reserve were presented. 

For the first time for the fauna of the Republic of Moldova, the saproxylic coleopteran Salpingus planirostris was identified. The species was collected with trunk traps in the Plaiul Fagului Nature Reserve. 

The survey of the diversity of Odonata species identified between 2020-2026 on the territory of the reserve was also presented. The results of this research significantly enrich the knowledge regarding the invertebrate fauna of the Plaiul Fagului Nature Reserve and Republic of Moldova.
