On March 26, 2026, at the "Alexandru Sturza" gymnasium from Ucrainca locality, Causeni district, a meeting with the students from grades IV-IX was organized. Researchers from the Laboratory of Terrestrial Vertebrates of the Institute of Zoology, Moldova State University - Dr.Hab. Victoria Nistreanu, PhD Natalia Sochircă, PhD Alina Larion and PhD Sîtnic Victor – conducted an ecological education lesson entitled "Rare species of terrestrial vertebrates in the Republic of Moldova". The event was attended by students passionate about nature, showing interest and active involvement in discussions on biodiversity conservation.
The gymnasium is named after Alexandru Sturza, a prominent personality of the 19th century. Until 1965, the locality was called Sturzeni, being part of the Sturza boyar family estate.
We sincerely express our gratitude to the institution's administration, especially to Director Svetlana Gușu, to Ms. Valentina Ciumac, biology and geography teacher, and to the entire teaching staff for their support and contribution to the smooth organization of the event.
