October 4 – World Animal Day

Each year on October 4, we mark the World Animal Day – an opportunity to reflect on the fundamental importance of biodiversity and the complex interdependence between humans and the animal kingdom. From a scientific perspective, animals are not merely inhabitants of the planet but structural pillars of the biosphere. World Animal Day is a special occasion dedicated to raising awareness of the essential role all living creatures play in our lives and in maintaining the natural balance.

Every species, from microscopic invertebrates to large mammals, performs irreplaceable ecological functions, such as plant pollination, maintaining food chains and biological balance, soil formation, and serving as indicators of ecosystem health.

The rapid decline of biodiversity and the fragmentation of natural habitats due to human pressure pose major threats to global stability. Protecting animals and their habitats is not merely an act of compassion but a pressing ecological necessity for ensuring the future of our own species. Protecting animals is a testament to responsibility and humanity.

The Institute of Zoology advocates for biodiversity conservation and the responsible use of natural resources. By protecting animals, we protect the balance of life on Earth!
