The ‘Science’ Union celebrated International Children’s Day with a special event held on May 30, 2026 - a joyful outing was organized for the approximately 100 children of our colleagues from the research institutes of the Moldova State University. It was a wonderful day for the children, spent alongside their parents, combined fun and education in a friendly, informal setting.
The first stop of the trip was to the Bardar Zoo Club, where the children had the opportunity to interact directly with numerous animal species.
Next, the trip continued to the “St. George” Monastery in Suruceni, a true spiritual and cultural landmark of the Republic of Moldova, and later - to the Museum of the Codrii Natural Reserve, located in the Lozova village, where the children explored exhibits dedicated to the region’s biodiversity and natural heritage. A highlight of the trip was the interactive program led by PhD Natalia Sochircă and Dr. habilitatus Elena Gherasim (Institute of Zoology). The researchers captivated the audience with fascinating presentations on ornithology and parasitology, while also organizing interactive contests in which both children and parents participated. A unique experience was the session of observing the structures of various parasite specimens under a microscope, which, along with exploring the diversity of bird species presented in the museum, turned science into a vivid, memorable, and highly accessible lesson.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Oleg Chihai, President of the “Science” Union, for the initiative to organize this educational field trip. We are also grateful to everyone who supported the organization of this event.
